Context
An arts school in a district town, with an old building and services at their limit: unreliable heating, classrooms cold in winter and hot in summer, a sculpture workshop that needed something other than an ordinary classroom.
The task
In 2023, plumbing, gas, heating and air conditioning for the building. In 2024, the repair of the sculpture workshop: hard-wearing floors, water and drainage for working, ventilation and task lighting. Also in 2024, the repair of three classrooms.
The solution
The services were done in summer, with the school empty, and handed over before the cold season with hot tests. We treated the workshop as a production space: washable floor, water points where the sculptors work, ventilation for dust. The classrooms were renovated one at a time, during the holidays.
The result
A school warm in winter and cool in summer, with a workshop where clay and stone can be worked and three new classrooms. Three consecutive contracts from the same client are the recommendation we cannot write ourselves.
